Entry fees

  • Submissions received before Friday, December 1st at 5 PM EDT are $300 USD per entry
  • Submissions received between Saturday, November 25, 2017 - Friday, February 16, 2018 are $400 USD per entry

 

Submission Checklist

By the closing deadline of  February 16th, 2018 at 5 PM, you must:

    1) Complete the Online Entry Form. At any time during the preparation of your entry, you may save and return to the Online Entry Form to change or add new information. When you return to add more information to your entry, you must click "Edit" to proceed. * Note the entry form will not save if any fields are left empty. You can update fields at any time before the deadline.

    2) Upload one full episode (in the case of a series) or the program in its entirety (in the case of one-offs), AND one 30-second clip from the program. Not a promotional trailer. Note: DVDs will not be accepted.

    3) Upload one high-res promotional image from the program to be used in the event the program is shortlisted for nomination to the 2018 Rockie Awards.

    4) Submit payment for each entry. Each entry is $300 USD for Early Bird (expires Friday November 24th at 5 PM EST) and $400 USD Regular.  (Provincial taxes for Canadian companies apply).

You will be prompted to pay these fees by Visa, Mastercard or AMEX.

  • All entries must have had their first broadcast transmission or launch date between January 1st, 2017 and before February 16, 2018.
  • In regards to series, please submit only one episode to represent the program.
  • All programs that are originally produced in a language other than English must be dubbed or subtitled in English. (Even when submitting to the Non-English Language Categories.) Subtitles are much preferred over dubbed entries.

Along with a completed entry form please submit:

    1) One full episode (in the case of a series) or the program in its entirety (in the case of one-offs), 2 minute demo video in the case of Apps and Virtual Reality entries

    2) One 30-second clip from the program

    3) One high-res promotional image

 

Video Specs for Full Program/Interactive Content Upload:

  • File format: H.264 MPEG-4 video in .mp4 file format
  • File size limit: 1000 MB
  • Aspect ratio: 16:9 NTSC (720x404)
  • Frame rate: Up to 30 frames per second (constant frame rate)
  • Profile: Main Profile Level 3.1
  • Audio: AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio
  • Please include the title of your program in the naming of the digital file provided (example: PROGRAM TITLE - full.mp4)

 

Video Specs for 30-Second Clip Upload:

  • File format: H.264 MPEG-4 video in .mp4 file format
  • File size limit: 1000 MB
  • Aspect ratio:16:9 NTSC (1280 x 720)
  • Frame rate: Up to 30 frames per second (constant frame rate)
  • Profile: Main Profile Level 3.1
  • Audio: AAC-LC audio up to 320 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio
  • Must be a clean excerpt free of logos, company names, time codes etc. This is not a promotional trailer.
  • Please include the title of your program in the naming of the digital file provided (example: PROGRAM TITLE - clip.mp4)

 

Promotional Image Specs:

  • File format: JPG
  • Minimum 500KB, 300dpi
  • Landscape orientation, show/talent images only, no logos, no show titles or other text
  • Please include the title of your program in the naming of the digital file provided (example: PROGRAM TITLE.jpg)

 

Rights Clearance:

By submitting video, digital and/or any content, or any forms of entertainment, advertising or promotional materials as part of an entry to the 2018 Rockies Awards, you grant permission to The Banff World Media Festival to: show, play and/or publicly exhibit the submitted content at the 2018 Rockies Awards ceremony; to exhibit and communicate submitted content to the public by telecommunication; and to charge admission to the awards ceremony where it is exhibited. Entrant companies acknowledge and agree that The Banff World Media Festival may use the content, or any reproduction of the submitted content in whole or in part, in telecasts, webcasts, exhibits, books, pamphlets, and other publications featuring or promoting award entries, and for which The Banff World Media Festival may receive compensation. The entrant company holds all necessary rights and/or licenses for such uses of the submitted content by The Banff World Media Festival as referenced above, including all music and other works contained within the content.

Entrant companies shall be responsible and shall hold The Banff World Media Festival, its assignees and licensees harmless for talent and/or other residual fees or claims arising by or due to the uses of the submitted content by The Banff World Media Festival as referenced above. Entrant companies submitting content to the 2018 Rockies Awards certify and confirm that they have the full authority to grant the rights to The Banff World Media Festival for the uses referenced above, on its behalf and on behalf of any client for whom the content was produced.
